active calories and strava

It seems that getting active calories when using Strava app is a bit challenging. Here is what I'm observing

  • Strava only sends a single calorie number to Apple Fitness so the fitness app records that value as active.
  • Apple watch not running Strava sends both numbers, and Fitness only posts the active portion. So Strava effectively doubles up Fitness app active calories by including the basil rate calories as active during activity.
  • Apple Health Active Energy measure on the other hand seems to adjust this out and only shows what I’m assuming is apple estimate of “active” calories from that single input.
  • Apple Health Acivity/Move shows the grossed up value like Fitness app and Strava app
  • So that means apple health shows two different values within Health and apple fitness shows a different values for “active” calories.
  • It also means the that fitness app is less than useful in understanding active calories if using Strava, which is actually a very good number to understand to monitor how active you really are.

Is there a fix I'm unaware of?
