Note folder duplications

On my iPhone 11: I always back up notes to iCloud, so I have 1 note folder under the cloud heading. Yesterday I updated iTunes on my laptop, in doing so I stupidly clicked to backup to iCloud instead of my laptop. In hindsight this created two (2) separate Note folders on my phone.

When I delete one of the entries under either folder, it deletes it from both Note folders. How do I delete the extra folder on my iPhone that was created due to the iTunes update?

i’m not very computer savvy so laymen terms please.. sorry us older folks struggle, Lol.

I suspected Notes as I was in the midst of scanning lots of old documents & transferring the scans to my Mac, & unbeknownst to me, my default Notes account for saving the scans was iCloud & not locally on the iPhone. Notes disappeared from iPad after I turned on icloud sync I wanted to access a note on my iphone which I wrote on my iPad. I saw my icloud wasn't synced on ipad so I turned it on. Instead of backing up iPad notes to icloud, it overwrote my notes from icloud to ipad. Now all my notes on ipad are gone. I called customer care as suggested in previous posts and they said I have to erase everything from iPad and restore from backup. They didn't seem confident if it would work since my icloud never had those notes even. How will a backup from icloud work? Please help!!!

notes not syncing Looking at my iPhone, under Notes app>Folders, I see 'iCloud' with a folder called Notes (1 note). I also see 'On My iPhone' with a folder called Notes (30 notes). On my iMac, both directly in app and online from iCloud I can only see the iCloud note, not the 30 iPhone notes. I expect to see my 30 notes backed up. I have Notes checked everywhere I look. What am I doing wrong? My iMac is running Catalina 10.15.7, iPhone is an updated XR. Please explain simply as the concept of syncing seems to evade me.
