iOS 17 major issue overwriting contact’s photos without approval

This is a complaint towards Apple for a feature that personally is invasive and unacceptable. It seems that iOS 17 has been updating my contacts photos with whatever they have selected in their own phones without asking me if I want the change to take effect or not.

I came across this issue when my wife’s contact changed from a photo of both of us to just a letter J. After this I decided to check other contacts, like my mother’s and father’s. Both were changed to whatever they use in their phones for their own ID, and replaced the photos I had selected in my iPhone, without the option to revert this change.

Can Apple support respond to this, report this, and either disable this automatic feature, or at least give us the option to disable this feature in the settings?

One could say going to the contact’s ID and changing the photo back to the one I desire, but whether I might not have a photo available anymore, or having to go several contacts to do this is something I shouldn’t have to be doing in the first place, especially since I have already done this in the first place.
