Watch: Notification received but no vibration

Hi!

I recently bought an iPhone 15 pro which I paired with my apple Watch series 8. I had it previously paired with an iPhone 11.

Since then, notifications are not always leading to the watch vibrating. I do receive the notification (the red dot is there) but no vibration.

I tried unpairing and pairing it back, hard reboot phone and watch but to no avail. What could be wrong?

It is quite annoying if I may say, since l'm no longer able to tell when a notification arrives.

Your iPhone 15 and Apple Watch are updated to the newest versions of iOS and watchOS?

Since you have changed the iPhone, this might be related to the new iPhone 15 firmware.

Or, since this seems to work not always, are these specific apps that can not notify you by vibrating?

Is your iPhone in use, when the Apple Watch does not vibrate?

Have a look at this article about where notifications are shown, depending on the state of the device:

I did update to the latest versions of iOS et WatchOS.

It doesn’t appear to be app specific though, at least I don’t think so.

I did specific tests by sending myself some mails and testing whether always-on display on the iPhone or focus had an impact but no combination seems to allow my watch to vibrate.

I’m in a situation where the iPhone is locked and the watch isn’t while resting on my wrist so it should work. In those tests, I can see that my phone receives the mail and associated notification (thanks to always-on) but the watch does not do anything. If I wait a couple dozens of seconds and raise my wrist, the red dot appears and the notification is in the notification tray.

Yes, everything is fine in settings.

i just realised that I hadn’t unpair from my iPhone 11 before switching to the iPhone 15, and the 11 has been reset yet. Maybe it’s getting confused with what phone it should forward to?

Although the 11 is shutdown…

I just received a phone call and there the watch did vibrate.

Erasing and setting the old iPhone back to factory settings will also unpair the watch from that device.

To be sure that all settings are correct, unpair the watch and pair it again to your new iPhone 15
