Scanner usb cord
I just bought a Richoh FI-8170 scanner how do I hook it to my MacBook Pro

What MacBook Pro model / year do you have?
Normally you would just plug the USB cable it came with into a port on your Mac.
If your Mac does not have a compatible port, then you would need to get a compatible cable or adapter.
Normally a USB-B to USB-C cable or a USB-A to USB-C adapter should work.
Alternatively it appears the scanner supports network connectivity. Refer to its user guide for how to connect it over the network.
