Why are responses to my group texts coming back as individual replies

I am running iOS 17.4.1 on my iPhone 12. Today, I sent out a group text to mixed users (Android and Apple) and the replies are now coming back from individual users. I've never had this problem before. When searching answers to this problem, I've seen previous posts about making sure Group Texting is enabled, but that doesn't seem to be an option in iOS17. Send as SMS is enabled in my Settings as is MMS Messaging. Any thoughts on how to fix this?
