how to alphabetize email folders on Mac?

Have tried selecting folder, pressing option key, then dragging to where I want to place folder, I let go of option key, but folder goes back to same position as it was before. It doesn't stay where I want it to be.

Re: how to alphabetize email folders on Mac?

Wondering if you are using MacOS Monterey (this is the Monterey Community )

or

MacOS X 10.11 El Capitan (as it says under your question)

Try dragging the Mailbox folder as you are doing, but without using the option key.

You should see a blue line appear, to help you with exactly where to place the mailbox between two other folders.
