Assistance Needed: M1 MacBook Air (A2337) Storage Upgrade Error During DFU Restore

encountered while attempting a storage upgrade on my M1 MacBook Air (A2337). In an effort to expand storage capacity, I attempted to replace the original SSD with aftermarket NAND chips.

Following the relevant disassembly and soldering procedures, I successfully entered DFU mode on the MacBook Air. However, during the software installation process, an error message occurred, abruptly interrupting the installation. Unfortunately, the MacBook Air is now stuck in a boot loop, displaying the following message: "System cannot be restored on this device. The operation couldn't be completed. (AMRestoreErrorDomain error -1 - Failed to handle message type StatusMsg (Generic error)) [AMRestoreErrorDomain – 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF (-1) [sys = 0x3F, sub = 0xFFF, code = 0x3FFF (16383)]]"

It is important to note that I did not utilize the original USB-C cable during the restoration process. Any idea how I can solve this ? And break the loop and the problem also looked on apple community support. The link to my Alibaba purchase nand chips is here : https://nl.aliexpress.com/i/1005005594607929.html

Since you did a DYI upgrade all bets are off in terms of getting it working as you probably damaged any number of things in that process including the devices you "soldered in".

Since this is not any way shape or form a sanctioned modification by Apple, the terms of service of this forum does not allow any discussion of such topics. So, you should seek help in some hardware hacker forum.

Thank you for the photo.

Errors After Altering a Device:

Apple devices erased after 2013 are designed to work as one device. All is soldered in to the Logic Board. So, expect errors when trying to alter your device. I'm not surprised.
