Stop Chrome websites on Mac Pro automatically opening on iPad in Safari

Every time I open a new tab to view a site on my MacPro 7,1 a Safari icon appears in the dock of my iPad with the same website. Anyone know how to prevent this happening besides simply deleting Safari?
