Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter - Lightning Port Functionality

The male port obviously goes into the iPhone/iPad and supports data transfer. Does the female Lightning port on the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter also support data or is it only for charging the device? Could one connect the female Lightning port to a computer with a Lightning to USB/USB-C cable to sync and update still or does the adapter need to be removed?

Plugging in a flash drive into my iPad or iPhone I saw this question asked a few times but I am not clear about the answer. iPad USB3 adapter power - Apple Community I purchased a Apple Lightning to USB Camera Adapter to plug a flash drive into my iPad or iPhone, however, when I tried it, it said on the screen it cannot use the accessory because it requires too much power. Do I need to get a USB hub, plug the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter into the iPad or iPhone, then plug the USB-A from the USB hub into the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter, and then use another cable to connect the USB hub to the wall outlet? Would that work?

Apple Lightning to USB3 Camera Adapter does not work with Iphone 15 Pro and apple Lightning to USBC Adapter Apple Lightning to USB3 Camera Adapter does not work with Iphone 15 Pro and Apple Lightning to USBC Adapter I have an Apple Lightning to USB3 Camera Adapter that works fine on my Iphone 11 but when I try to plug it into my Apple Lightning to USBC adapter the phone just says "Accessory Not Supported. This Accessory is not supported by this device." If I plug in a charge cable (lightning) into the Adapter, it will charge but no USB will connect to the Adapter. The USBC to Lightning adapter works fine for charging and data. Everything is official Apple product.
