iPhone Apple TV app not working with Apple TV

I wanted to share a technical challenge I encountered when upgrading to the latest iOS 17.4.1. After the update, my Apple TV app on my iPhone 13 couldn't detect my Apple TV, even though both devices were connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Fortunately, I had the Apple TV remote handy, but it's small and easily misplaced by the kids. To resolve the issue, I navigated to the Apple TV settings and completed the home setup process. Placing my iPhone close to the Apple TV allowed both devices to communicate to each other. However, I also had to temporarily enable passcode sharing to iCloud in my iPhone settings. After doing so, my iPhone successfully recognized my Apple TV.
