Potentially water damaged iPad (5th gen) & Keyboard troubleshoot

  • So the other day I spilled water in my bag and accidentally soaked my iPad but only horizontally. It wasn’t enough water to get into the charger port I don’t think, but now my iPad has a cloudy appearance regardless of how high or low the brightness is, almost as if there’s water still trapped in it. Everything that I know of works fine except my magic keyboard. Certain buttons pressed trigger other buttons to be pressed with it (EX: if I press “4” then “456789” comes out) or nothing gets triggered at all. Is there a way to fix this or at least fix the appearance of my iPad?

Basically no. The water entered into your iPad, and the more you use it the more damaged it will become. Even if all of this water evaporates, it may still leave conductive residue which will further damage the iPad.

You will need to have this iPad examined by an Apple Technician to see if there is any possibility that it can be repaired. However water damage is not covered under the Apple warranty. The only means to get any repair price break would be if you have an active AppleCare+ plan on it.
