Ipad Air stuck.

iPad Air stuck in app, won’t respond to gestures, won’t restart or shutdown.

Hi all, opened youtube on my iPad this morning and went to swipe out of it and there was no response. Went through several attempts to close out of app but no gestures worked and my iPad is stuck in the app. Tried to restart/shut down but no swipe bar ever appears. Another notification came up for a separate app and I thought clicking it may work but it was unresponsive. Please Help.
