What happens if you no longer have access to a phone number you had linked to an account
I would like to delete an account but I do not have access to the trusted number to receive the verification code

If you are just trying to delete an Apple account and you know the number but don’t have access to it you need to do a process called account recovery. For account recovery you need to know both the Apple ID (which is the email you used to create the Apple account) and the phone number. And if the email was a 3rd party for example gmail, aol, yahoo, etc.. then you have to have access to that email also to receive a code to start account recovery. Once your able to regain access to the account then you can go to How to delete your Apple ID account - Apple Support
