How do I find stores that can help me upgrade my iMac memory?

I bought memory to upgrade my iMacs and then realize that it will require more skill than I have. Are there any stores where I can pay to get them to put the memory in?

Why do you think you need additional RAM and what model year iMac do you have and what is the screen size? Many think that by adding RAM that will improve the speed of the computer, this is incorrect. Also, 21.5" iMac made between 2012 and 2020 do NOT have upgradeable RAM for the most part (some do but the process is extremely difficult and expensive) and all 24" iMacs made 2021 and later do not have upgradeable RAM.

Installing additional memory on 21.5" iMacs built after 2012 can be performed by a competent repair shop with specialized experience in Macs. To find possible alternatives start here: Find Locations. Avoid PC-centric repair shops, big box stores, "Geek Patrol" etc.

If you’re on the fairly common 8 GB / HDD hard disk drive configuration, upgrading memory (alone) won’t appreciably help performance.

An often cheaper performance-improving approach is migrating from an internal HDD to an external SSD.

Or if you do follow your present internal memory-upgrade path and have an HDD, absolutely also upgrade that HDD to an SSD while the iMac box is open.
