- My Library shown in the Apple TV app is not replicated correctly in the Library on the Apple TV device.
- Films and TV shows are missing
- The films and TV shows shown on the Apple TV box are only those downloaded through iTunes. This
isn't the functionality I purchased.
This is by design, and exactly how it always has been. Only iTunes Store purchases are available in the Library of the Apple TV app on streaming devices, including for the Apple TV box. Use Home Sharing for other media (local files from other sources, e.g. home videos). Currently, Home Sharing on Windows is said to be configured through the iTunes application. Home Sharing media can be accessed through the Computers app on the Apple TV box.
Home Sharing is no longer available from either the Apple TV app, the Apple Music app, or within iTunes which is now only used for Podcasts and Audiobooks. The Apple TV device asks for Home Sharing to be turned on but it is nowhere to be found.
The support document for Home Sharing (version dated 2024-01-10) says that the option should be in the iTunes for Windows application. It should then access the library from the other Apple apps as well.
If this issue persist, then please contact Apple Support for further guidance.
- It used to be the case that in selecting anything to view there was an option to start where you
left off or from the beginning; this option is now missing on selection of the film/TV Show.
For iTunes Store purchases and subscription content, verify that Use Viewing History (or Use Play History on other devices) is activated in the app’s Settings on your devices, to keep track of watch progress through iCloud.
For your own local media files from other sources, content would continue where you left off by default on the computer. If you want to restart watching from the beginning, then pause and rewind by moving the ‘playhead’ to the left. For Home Sharing, you would get the Resume Playing/Start from Beginning options.
Local media on computers can have a per-title setting for remembering the playback position (Get Info﹥Options).
- Films are assigned an incorrect artwork image with an incorrect film name on it despite it being correct in the Apple TV app
- Some artwork isn’t displayed within the Apple TV device pages despite being visible within the Apple TV app library
For errors in artwork of iTunes Store content, try signing out, restarting the device, then sign in again. Also verify that the Apple TV box system software is up-to-date.
If this issue persist, then please contact Apple Support to report this error for a specified title. Or use the best-fitting feedback form: Product Feedback - Apple.
Note that media that is not tagged for media kind, or tagged as Home Video, will get an automatically selected frame as artwork on the library overview page. For unsupported video codes, that frame selection may fail. Only media tagged as Movie or TV show (Get Info﹥Options) can show the manually selected JPG artwork.
