Voiceover reading text in Hebrew.

Why can’t voiceover read text in Hebrew whenever I translate from English to Hebrew on google and turn on voiceover?

Hi LostOllie,

Re: Voiceover reading text in Hebrew

Am no expert in this area, yet your request surely deserves some response.

Seems you may need to download a Hebrew language generator that works with VoiceOver, via searching for a suitable app online. I don't know anything about this Hebrew generator app (link below), it is just an example of what is available: https://synthesys.io/hebrew-text-to-speech/

We do not know whether you are using a Mac, iPad, iPhone, Vision Pro etc., with Voice Over., and which Operating System (OS) version is installed. on your device.

You may be able to change language translation settings on your Mac or other device.

Wondering whether or not you have set up VoiceOver on your device to do that yet ...

Perhaps not yet ? .... or perhaps it is set up but not working for you ?

For a Mac using MacOS 14 Sonoma:

Voices, Speech category, VoiceOver Utility on Mac - Apple Support

Eg says you can:

"Add a language, then choose and customise the voice you want VoiceOver to use when reading in that language.

If VoiceOver detects that a language has been associated with text that it’s reading, it automatically switches to another voice and reads the text in that language".

For iPhone using iOS17:

Change your VoiceOver settings on iPhone - Apple Support

says:

"You can customize the settings for VoiceOver .... "

Eg: "Set the VoiceOver language

  • Change the primary language: VoiceOver uses the same language you choose for your iPhone. To choose a different primary language, go to Settings  > General > Language & Region, then tap Add Language.
  • Switch languages using the rotor: See Control VoiceOver using the rotor on iPhone.
  • Automatically detect languages: VoiceOver can switch voices for text in different languages. Go to Settings > Accessibility > VoiceOver > Speech, then turn on Detect Languages."

Hope this is helpful to you, or at least gets a discussion underway, that may lead to a workable solultion.
