My macbook fan is running loudly than normal

It will be on a hard surface like a desk, and still be running very loudly.

It seems that your computer is working hard to cool down. Here are some steps you can take to diagnose and potentially fix the issue:

1.Check running processes: open activity monitor and look at the CPU and memory tabs to see if any applications or processes are using a significant amount of resources, which causes the MacBook to heat up, making the fans run louder.

2.Check for dust: dust accumulation can block the air vents of your MacBook, reducing cooling efficiency. You can check the vents and gently clean them if needed.

3.Ensure good ventilation: even though you mentioned it's on a hard surface, make sure the vents are not blocked. You can also pay attention to the environment temperature.

4.Hardware check: if the fan noise persists without high CPU or memory usage, there might be a hardware issue with the fans themselves or other internal components. In this case, it might be wise to contact Apple Support for a professional diagnosis.
