Shared and subscribed calendar issues

We are a small firm with 6 people, our email and calendars are hosted by google through a workspace account. We are also in an entirely mac environment. A key part of our operations is being able to see each other's calendars for scheduling purposes. While we used to share our calendars more formally, the notifications from everyone else's calendars made that system impossible to use. Instead, we discovered the ability to "subscribe" to a calendar and have shared the "secret" links with each other. However, we are now getting this error message, for some, but not all of our colleagues:

"The data downloaded from https://calendar.google.com/calendar/ical/jandrus%40kemperconsult.com/private-5793e42a240c1d147864b3aXXXXXXXX/basic.ics isn’t valid."

Can anyone help with this? I've search the ends of the internet with no luck.

Alternatively, we would just go back to sharing calendars but we haven't been able to find a way to do that without everyone seeing all of the calendar notifications.

One possible solution to this problem is to ensure that the calendar links you're using for subscription are correct and up to date. It's possible that there may be a typo or an outdated link causing the error message. Double-checking the links and verifying that they are valid and accessible may help resolve the issue.

Additionally, you may want to try removing the affected calendar subscriptions from the Calendar app and then re-adding them using the correct links. This can sometimes refresh the subscription and resolve any issues with the data download.

If the issue persists despite these efforts, it may be worth reaching out to Google Workspace support for further assistance. They can provide specialized support for issues related to Google Calendar and may be able to offer additional troubleshooting steps or insights specific to your situation.

Regarding your alternative option of sharing calendars directly, you're correct that one drawback is the visibility of calendar notifications to all users. However, there may be settings within Google Calendar or Google Workspace that allow you to customize notification settings for shared calendars. Exploring these settings or reaching out to Google Workspace support for guidance on how to achieve your desired sharing setup may be beneficial.
