After upgrading to Sonoma 14.4.1 on my MacBook Pro, my emoji keyboard icon is gone. It used to be in the upper right corner of my window. I went to Keyboard under System Settings, and the option to add it doesn't exist. I can still access it with the 'fn E' command, but I liked my keyboard! Please advise.

There have been many complaints about this. It would appear that Sonoma has replaced the menu bar icon with Fn-E. The documentation makes no mention of Sonoma having a "Show Input Menu in the menu bar" option.

Did you click on the Edit button in Text Input and turn on the setting for Show Input Menu in Menu Bar?

Yes, the new organization of system settings in Ventura and Sonoma is so messy that many users think features have disappeared just because they can’t easily find them any more
