Apple Books is draining my MacBook Pro's battery (2024)

I have MacBook Pro 13" 2020 with 86% battery health, which is equivalent to the battery of a brand new Macbook Air M3 2024. This morning I started out with a full battery, which usually lasts me one day and a half, and went to my coffee shop for a writing session. I opened Apple Books 5.2 on MacOS Ventura 13.6 to find a quote, and then did some writing in Apple Pages and Apple Notes. In between I had a 90 minutes video call on Whatsapp. A few hours later I noticed with horror that my battery was down to 17%! I opened up Activity Monitor and to my surprise found that Apple Books ate all that battery. What's wrong with Apple Books ??
