Accessing music in itunes when I have an apple music subscription

I can't seem to get my head around the difference between apple music and itunes. I like browsing artists and genres and randomly adding them to my library, but I can't see how do do this in the itunes store now. Everything has a cost against it when I only want to add it to my library. I have a subscription so I thought that streaming is now free?

Using the iTunes Store is only for purchasing music. You still have the option to purchase music even with a subscription. When music is purchased, it will remain on the device if you choose to cancel the subscription. If you are not interested in purchasing music, then you do not need to use the iTunes Store tab at all. In fact you can remove it in the Music app by going to Music > Settings > General, and uncheck the iTunes Store option.
