Exporting Google Contacts to vCard on iOS

I am attempting to move Google contacts as described in response on Apple Support. When initiating the download to vCard by going to ‘Export’, ‘all contacts’ ’vCard’ and clicking ‘export’, instead of the download starting it brings up the top contact card on my list and the download doesn’t start. Same result trying this on iPhone and iPad, running up-to-date iOS as of 4/23/24, and tried using Chrome browser in addition to Safari. Without the export I can’t import!! Thoughts on if this download cannot happen on iOS? Or other reason the download isn’t happening? Thx!
