Mini iPad drained overnight

I haven’t changed anything on my settings so why did my iPad mini drain overnight.

Presumably the iPad battery was completely depleted - and your iPad automatically shut-down. With available information, it is impossible to speculate as to the definitive cause. Take a look at your battery utilisation by App - as this may provide some clues:

Settings > Battery

By example:

Here you see both a graphic showing available battery charge over time, charging information - and App utilisation. Look for Apps or processes that were running during the overnight period - as these are candidates for unexpected battery drain. Tapping an individual time slice will provide an additional breakdown for that time period.

Again, by example:

It may be helpful for you to perform a forced-restart of your iPad - as this will likely clear an isolated software issue or any "stuck" process that caused unexpected battery drain:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)

Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
