Apple TV app on VIDAA OS won’t play past recap

We are logged into the Apple TV+ app on a VIDAA OS Hisense smart TV and it won’t play any show past the recap. The recap plays smoothly so there are no internet access or speed issues. Then it just stops and there’s a black screen. Sometimes it says a technical error occurred.


Restarting the TV or app or logging in and out don’t help. We googled this and there are heaps of people who posted this problem but every time there is no answer, no solution and then the thread just goes dead and Apple archives it.


We called the Apple support hotline and the guy just said they are not trained on Apple TV apps on non Apple OS.


Is there any solution to this problem?

  1. Does Apple TV+ work on other devices on your home network? (That could possibly confirm/deny if there is a DNS issue.)
  2. Have you checked for TV system software updates? Apply if available. System Settings﹥Support﹥System Upgrade﹥Check Firmware Upgrade.
  3. Does VIDAA allow deletion and reinstalling of the Apple TV app? If so, try that.
  4. Find the setting to clear caches for smart apps on your VIDAA TV. ⚙ Settings﹥System﹥Application Settings﹥Clear Cache﹥[confirm:] Clear.
  5. Have you checked Apple System Status for known outages?

Apple doesn’t call it a “hotline”. There are some fake numbers in search engines. Verify that you used a number from Apple’s list of support phone numbers: Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support

If you’re not getting the needed assistance from the initial staff member, then ask to be transferred to a more knowledgeable higher tier support staff member. Apple made the app, not VIDAA, nor Hisense. That doesn’t mean that the app is in error per se, but i.m.h.o. an app developer should know the platform and common reasons why something wouldn’t load, and relay that info to support staff.

thanks for the quick reply.


1: yes, works fine on Sony Tv with Android OS and on my iPhone and on the Apple TV (in another room), so our network seems ok.


2: all the latest.


3: no, it’s built in. But we did the “reset” feature within the Apple TV app and that didn’t help.


4: done. No change.


5: no outages.


Re “hotline”: yes, it was via the Apple Support app.
