Apple Watch Competition - not showing points for me

I started a 7 day competition with my friend using the activity app and on her apple watch she can see how may points she has, but mine is showing as zero. On my end, I can't even see the competition point standings since updating my watch. When I go to her profile on the 'sharing' portion of the activity interface it shows no competition and just shows the button 'compete' to invite her to a competition. When I try clicking this I get an error message 'There was an error sending your competition invitation to .... Please try again', which I assume is due to the fact we are already technically in a competition. Can you assist me in sorting this out?

I have double checked and both my phone and watch have the most recent updates.

3. Go to the Watch app on your iPhone, tap on My Watch, then go to Privacy > Reset Fitness Calibration Data. This will reset the calibration data and may resolve syncing issues.
