Complete iPhone backup on iCloud

When I open an iCloud account, I understand pics, videos, passwords and many other files are copied to my iCloud storage account. Does the account (iCloud) make a mirrored copy of my phone? If not, say I lost my phone, how do I get a mirrored copy of my phone? Thank you.

How do I access my iCloud backup if I lost my phone? I deleted an iPhone backup on my Mac to save space. I then enabled "Back up this iPhone" under iCloud on my cell phone. However how would I access the backup if I lose the phone? The website says backups aren't listed on iCloud.com
