How stop safari from using Google Maps as default

This is normal. When you search for something on Safari, you're using Google as your search engine. It'll open the directions in the web version of Google Maps anyway even if you've never installed the Google Maps app.

You can, however, simply search for the store in the Apple Maps app.

One of us is misunderstanding something, because I just searched for Saks Fifth Avenue and a nice Apple Maps picture appears along with directions, etc. I have never seen Google Maps result, not from a Safari search.

Huh, very strange- indeed, interested to hear what's going on here.

None of my three iPhones nor two iPads running the latest iOS versions exhibit this behavior.

As I wrote Safari does not use Google Maps as a default for anything. The OP alluded to using some kind of Google settings. That clearly indicates the presence of Google on the affected devices, and you chose to not respond to the only question I asked.

I suggest anyone else experiencing it post your own Discussions. This one has now been corrupted with conflicting and misleading information, as is generally the case when people pile on with "me too" replies. That practice helps no one, and will not lead to a solution.

Ok, is there an actual answer for this because if Safari takes me to Google maps and continues to force me to download Google maps, I will smash this phone. Has nothing to do with the search engine.

Please follow these steps:

Step 1: Follow the instructions I provided.

Step 2: There is no Step 2.
