I tried instructions from 2021 using direct transfer connecting iPhone to MacBook and via wifi- nothing worked. I want to
listen to language CDs via my phone.I could not locate a more recent discussion.

You need to use Finder on your MacBook to sync content to your iPhone. See if this helps you --> Sync content between your Mac and iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Note: You may need to first add the CDs to your iTunes Library on your MacBook Pro, then use Finder to sync them.
