The TV box is a third generation.
Confusingly, there are two models named “3rd generation”:
- the 2012 model Apple TV (3rd generation) [A1427 or A1469], which isn’t compatible with Apple Music directly, but should support Apple Music through AirPlay. (This model doesn’t support multiple accounts.)
- the 2022 model Apple TV 4K (3rd generation) [A2737 or A2843], which does support both on-device Apple Music, and also through AirPlay. (This model does support multiple accounts.)
The subscription is linked to only one account on the box and that is the main account. We've also checked if the subscription is still working and it is.
Ok, this doesn’t point to a solution yet, but does exclude some possible reasons.
What happens is that once we play a song, it will go to its little icon near the lyrics but won't play the actual song.
When e.g. an iPhone is streaming using AirPlay, then the AirPlay destination device is listed at the bottom, in the middle, between the lyrics button and the playlist button — as intended and as expected.
This works for me, as I assume it used to work for you in the past.
Can you AirPlay anything? E.g. a short video recording from your iPhone? Is that playing? With or without sound?
Unfortunately, I haven’t seen the clues as to why your music wouldn’t play. At this time, I would suggest to contact an expert from the Apple Support staff for further assistance. Contact Apple for support and service (phone numbers) or start your support request online (chat/email/callback).
