(Beginner questions) about security Keys with old computer

I've watched a lot of youtube videos about security keys and I still don't understand some basic things. SORRY for all the questions. Anthing you offer will help:

1-Can I use it on an old computer (Macbook 2014 + Mojave)?

2-Am I correct I should get the usb-A because it's for old computers?

3-I only use firefox and duckduckgo. Is that a problem (some amazon listings say I can't use Firefox)

4-Do I have to use the Key with every website where I sign in? Or can I just use it with certain sites that are the most vulnerable? (I want to ease in to using one)

5-If I use someone else's computer (library), can I still use my key to sign to my accounts (like gmail)? Or does that defeat the whole purpose of having a key?

Much thanks!!!

  1. Yes
  2. USB-A for what?
  3. You may need to use more than one browser, I like Brave. Might try this, it's Chrome Browser without google & without Ads...

Four. Generally it's automatic. Go on the Apple certificate page:

Apple PKI - Apple

Download the Apple Intermediate Certificates

Apple IST CA 2 - G1 Certificate (direct download)

Double click the downloaded certificate to install it in Keychain Access.

You should see it now, in login certificates.

Or do you mean Passwords?

Five. Need to know if it's Passwords or what, but when using a public computer make certain you're getting a test account, or use a Private browser page.
