Apple iPhone doesn’t support AMR files, having dropped that support back around iOS 4.3.

VLC and some other tools on Mac can play and can convert the format, and online converts are available.

I am having this issue, too. If Apple iPhones no longer support AMR files, why are audio messages sent from one iPhone to another being sent or received as caf.amr files? I have actively watched an audio message change from a caf file that I could listen to if I managed to open it fast enough into a caf.amr file. In those cases, the audio messages aren't coming in as the nice little play button they used to be, either, but like they are attached caf files.
