Unable to log in to Amazon on iPad (not using app)

I'm unable to login to my Amazon account in Safari on my iPad, which is old and can't go beyond operating system 9.3.5. I'm entering the correct information and have triple checked and tried multiple times. I understand the old operating system won't support the app, but I can't see why this would disable me from using the website? I haven't used the iPad for a year or so and suddenly literally nothing is working.. so frustrating as it's in near perfect condition and has barely been used.

iPad mini, iOS 9

Thanks for asking - it's actually saying (when I try to log into my Amazon account) that the login details are incorrect (which they're not). It then asks me to go through an authentication process involving getting a code via my mobile, which I do, but it doesn't accept the code - I've triple checked and even got a friend to do it for me, but it won't accept the code. It then refers me to customer service, but when I click the button, the page is blank. It does seem odd! Perhaps the support option just doesn't work with the old operating system, but I am entering the correct login information in the first place (it's working fine on all my other Apple devices) so I don't actually need support!

The observed behaviour suggests a bad or expired cookie. Try clearing your cached website data:

Settings > Safari > Clear History & Website Data

I don't have access to an older device running iOS 9.x - and as such the path to the correct item in settings many be a little different - but it will be there somewhere.

Doesn't matter if it is near perfect condition or hardly used, it is an outdated device.
