in settings, under “family”, I want to add a member (child) and create a Apple ID for her.
I go through all the steps and at the end of the process, I get a message that says “your Apple ID can not be created at this time”
tried a third time an now I can’t get past the request for adult verification??
help please?

Creating a child’s AppleID is tricky.
It MUST be done from an Adult Family Organizer’s device.
Once the child’s AppleID is created … THEN the adult can setup the child’s device.

Yes, as I said, I did all of that on my Mac, exactly as the on screen instructions said, and got a message that the account couldn’t be created at this time.
Drats, ok then.
Are you simultaneously trying to create a brand new iCloud email for the child …
… or using a 3rd party email address for the child which already exists?
