17 inches MBP 2009 doesn’t turn on

I own an old mbp(17” early 2009). It stopped turning on and doesn’t even chime. The charger indicator light always stays orange, no green. Do you have an idea what may be the reason?

Beside being 15 years old...


You can try both resetting the System Management Controller Reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support

and

resetting NVRAM/PRAM Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

Disconnect the main battery as a drained battery or a failing battery can prevent a Mac from powering on & booting. Try powering on the laptop with the battery disconnected & just using the power adapter.


Another possibility is this laptop is suffering from a GPU failure which unfortunately was quite common for the 15" & 17" models from 2008 to 2011.
