HORIZONTAL SPLIT SCREEN

my 2022 macbook pro m2 screen started splitting horizontally, with one of the screens zoomed and the other not -- there is only one active curser so you first need to get your curser in sight, then try to select something on the screen to find out which screen is active. i discovered no fix other than restarting my mac, which is also having issues with the progress bar getting stuck under the apple for an indefinite period of time (a minute til ??) so after finally restarting, it would sometimes do it again in a minute or two, they very ocassionally for as long as ten minutes...it did it in every application that i use...my several convos with apple support were fruitless, as were the other three issues, so i just traded it in for a new macbook air 2024 m3 (in midnight)...which i really like so far except that the screen horizontal split happened on my 3 day old laptop, so now the question is whether that is because of the migration between the two computers.

i think that it came from the other computer, but of course the question now is in which application (or whatever) and if apple couldn't fix it in the macbook pro 2022 m2, what are the chances that it can be fixed now?

(before i purchased the mac air i have now, i tried reinstalling mac os, deleting and reinstalling safari. the split happened in every application i used except i don't remembering it doing it in notes. i did try first aid, but never tried to find out if it occurred when in safe mode.

i'd kill to have someone out there in appleville give me a fix or even a work around for this very frustrating issue -- i don't understand why every apple advisor told me either that they had never heard of that before (and proceeded to tell me about vertically installing 2 apps together on the same screen (??)...i said "horizontal" and got nothing.

(just like the old key board fiasco)...i guess i'm bitter over having to purchase a new laptop every 2 years or so...nothing is forever they say...

i'd appreciate any solutions that have worked for you, as well as hearing from anyone who has experienced the horizontally split screen issue on their device....here's an example...

thx!

Is this third party?

To trouble shoot further you can:

—A SafeBoot Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

unplug all non-essential peripherals when testing

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS

you can search at the App Store for some clue if third party — I see quite a few
