Iphone 15 swollen battery and chemical smell

I got my iphone 15 in january (brand new manufactured in december 2023) i noticed the battery started draining rapidly during charge and restarting itself randomly.. took phone case off as my phone felt hot and it looks like my battery is swelling - the back of the phone has slightly bulged and there is a strong acetone smell. If i send this to apple, is it covered in their warranty? It has been in a case for at least 2 1/2 months and i have barely dropped it and definitely hard not enough for this to happen hence no cracked screens. Seems abit ridiculous for a brand new device
