Sharp/NEC Spectraview calibration software and M1 MBP
Sharp/NEC Spectraview calibration software cannot detect my NEC Multisync PA272W external monitor using a 2021 14" M1 MacBook Pro, running Sonoma 14.4.1. Display mirroring is fine with Thunderbolt/USB-C to Display Port on monitor. Per Sharp/NEC "Read Me" bulletins, another USB-C to one of the USB-B upstream ports on the monitor is needed for communication with Spectraview to calibrate the monitor. After trying several different USB cables, adapters and even trying to go through an OWC Thunderbolt hub, the software still cannot detect the monitor. Oddly enough, the actual NEC MDSVSENSOR3 puck (actual calibration sensor) is detected when plugged into one of the downstream USB-A ports on the monitor. Per the NEC "Read Me" bulletins, this is a problem with new M1 Macs as of OS 11.2 that Apple is aware of which will be addressed in a future OS update. As stated, My M1 is running OS 14.4.1 and still no fix! APPLE! My M1 MacBook PRO has let me down! Why do you call it a "PRO"? HOW MANY PROFESSIONALS AND AMATEURS WHO RELY ON PROFESSIONAL CALIBER EQUIPMENT HAVE YOU LET DOWN? WHAT HAPPENED TO "IT JUST WORKS"? After years of Macs maybe I need to go back to Windows! SHUDDER!
