Trying to set up Apple Cash on my 14-year-olds iPhone

I am the mom and I am the family organizer between my iPhone and my 14 yo son‘s iPhone. I have followed the directions to set up Apple Cash as the family organizer on my phone so that it can be enabled on his phone. But when I go to his phone and click on set up Apple Cash, I get a pop up message that says Apple Cash unavailable. Apple Cash cannot be enabled because you don’t meet the minimum age requirement. so now I’m stuck.

Please check that his age is set correctly in his Apple ID.

Thank you so much for the reply. His ID is set to his correct age and he will be 15 this summer. I will say originally it was not set up with the correct age, but I corrected it about four months ago and I checked it last night and it now does have his correct date of birth as anticipated.

The second link (that you provided) are the exact instructions that I had followed and everything was done correctly on my phone and when I go to his phone to complete the set up, I get to the area where it says set up Apple cash and when I click on it, I get the pop-up that then tells me that my son doesn’t meet the minimum age requirement. So I just keep going in circles. I can’t go any further on his phone and when I go back to my phone and try and go through the process again, it tells me I can’t go through the process because I’ve (basically already done it) and Apple Cash is set up on his phone. Which in fact isn’t correct.

Thank you again for your reply and trying to help me.

Some background information that might help. My husband and I have been android users forever. We gave our son an Apple phone when he Was 13. I have now converted to an Apple phone begrudgingly so that I can more monitor his phone usage. In order to create time limits on apps, for example.

So I am new to the iPhone since January 1 of this year.

Attempting to answer your first question, I would have accepted the invitation using his phone and I think the answer is yes to your question. Meaning that on my phone, I am the family organizer and when I go into settings, I see myself as the family organizer and I see my son listed under family. From my phone I can control his time limits on apps and I can see his daily and weekly cell phone usage. So I think the answer to your question is yes?

i’ve just googled what a VPN is. I just checked my settings and it says my VPN is not connected. My son is not home at the moment but I would be 99.9% sure his wouldn’t be connected. It’s nothing we know anything about. But I will check his when he gets home.

yes, my son has a passcode and Face ID enabled. last night when trying to set up the Apple Cash, when it would ask for the Face ID and I would fail it would then ask for the passcode which I know and I could enter.

no, he only has the one Apple ID and the same for me.(but like I said, I did have to correct his date of birth about four months ago.)

thanks again
