How do I get my WhatsApp updated since it was bought under another Apple ID?

Good afternoon! I'm asking for advice in this situation: my iPhone (8 plus, 14.4.2) requires updating WhatsApp. It turned out that WhatsApp is tied to my brother’s Apple ID; once upon a time we used the same account. and now to update the system requires a password from it, but WhatsApp is registered to my personal number and to my Apple ID. Will chats be lost when entering someone else's password to update WhatsApp? Thank you in advance for your help.

When entering someone else's password it would not happen for as far as I know, but when you need to enter your brothers password to update apps on your iPhone there is a chance that your App Store is linked to your brother's Apple ID. Go to the App Store>person icon in the top right corner to check that. If this is the case, it could be that whatsapp is linked to your brothers Apple ID and therefore you can lose chats

Sharing Apple ID's is not recommended as it can cause issues and Apple ID's are strictly personal .
