internal links in Apple Books app not working

hi - I've found that internal links in reflowable epub3 Apple Books don't always work - linking to a page or an anchor . . . quitting the app or deleting and re-loading the epub file may help for first few links but not for more than about 4 or 5 clicks. The links work in a browser and in Adobe Digital Editions -

anybody aware of this problem and how to fix it? -
