Printer and Calculator not working after update

Hi all,

I recently had to re-install my Macbook OS to resolve some storage issues. Through this process, I installed my macbook's original OS (10.11), and jumped up to OS 12.7.4. For context, I have a mid-2015 Macbook Pro.

Since re-installing, I have had a couple very random issues with the calculator app and the printer settings The calculator app does not launch (through spotlight or through directly opening it through Finder), and I am unable to add printers to my printer settings. For the latter, I followed instructions to reset all printer settings, but when I try to "Reset printing system", the spinning wheel continues and does not stop.

There may be some more system-related issues since the re-install, but I have not found them as of yet.

Any thoughts on further troubleshooting steps?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 12.7

To trouble shoot further you can:

—A SafeBoot Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

unplug all non-essential peripherals when testing

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS
