How to fix the random "Bong" sound on MacBook Air?

This is a follow up to a similar query from 2011. My Apple macbookAircomputer just started making a periodic Bong sound and I am unable to ID the cause?

Unknown "Bong" sound just started periodically sounding and unable to ID cause.

We'd need to know which Mac model you have, and which MacOS you're running. Both of these are available by clicking on the Apple menu and choosing About This Mac.
