Stage lights on in MacBook pro

MacBook Pro 2020. 13” The stage lights come on and stay on every now and then. The main screen dims when that happens. Shutting down for a while usually resolves the issue. A restart of device never fixes it. It is very inconvenient when I am in the middle of work.

If I am moving the brightness setting down, via the keyboard or the digital slider, it often stops responding to commands and jumps around brightness levels. If I drop it to its lowest setting, the screen turns off all together and I can't turn it back on with the keyboard until I close the laptop lid and reopen - it then resets to a low level. I've had this screen fully replaced via AppleCare after physical damage so it doesn't seem to be the screen itself. This issue has been a problem across many software updates over two years. Any advice much appreciated :)

MacBook Pro 16 M4 Dimming Zones Extremely Noticeable I have traded in my MacBook Pro 16 M1 Pro to the MacBook Pro 16 M4 Pro. The M1 display did not experience this issue at all. Issue: When viewing dark areas on the screen like black or dark grey (dark room, moving cursor, brightness at 30%-40%), the dimming zones are extremely noticeable. Temporary Fix: Change display refresh rate from ProMotion to 60Hz and then back again to ProMotion. This will either come back randomly or after a shutdown/restart/sleep. I understand that dimming zones on the display are noticeable but not to this extreme level. I can replace the device, but I think it's a software/energy management issue? I reported it as a bug already. Do you have a similar issue? Should I actually replace it? Thanks!

Vertical band on MacBook Air M2 screen A wide vertical band is visible on my MacBook Air M2 (2022) screen. It appears as a darker band over a very bright/white background, and a lighter band over a very dark/black background. Sometimes it flickers. It seems to be particularly bad when I first open it up. And overall it is getting worse, not better. I can probably take it in for a repair, but this thing has been barely used over the last three years, and is in pristine condition otherwise, so I would not really expect to have to pay to get this sorted... shouldn't be experiencing this issue for a product of this type. I'm hoping there is some solution other than to stew about it. Examples below...
