MacBook Pro 16 M4 Dimming Zones Extremely Noticeable

I have traded in my MacBook Pro 16 M1 Pro to the MacBook Pro 16 M4 Pro.

The M1 display did not experience this issue at all.

Issue: When viewing dark areas on the screen like black or dark grey (dark room, moving cursor, brightness at 30%-40%), the dimming zones are extremely noticeable.

Temporary Fix: Change display refresh rate from ProMotion to 60Hz and then back again to ProMotion.

This will either come back randomly or after a shutdown/restart/sleep.

I understand that dimming zones on the display are noticeable but not to this extreme level.

I can replace the device, but I think it's a software/energy management issue? I reported it as a bug already.

Do you have a similar issue? Should I actually replace it?

Thanks!

Update: I replaced the MBP with another one, same exact issue. If I switch it to 60Hz and back to ProMotion, the issue is fixed until next restart :(
