MacBook Air display dims/blacks out during video on battery

When I watch a video program on the New York Times website, with my MacBook Air on battery, after 30 seconds or so the display will dim, then after a bit more time the display goes black. How do I prevent this from happening?

Turn Off Low Power Settings:

Go Here: Change Battery Preferences on a Mac Notebook - Tahoe - Apple Support


  1. Go to: Apple menu
  2. Select: System Settings
  3. Select: Battery in the sidebar (You may need to scroll down.)
  4. Select: "Never" on (top-right) for "Low Power Mode"
  5. Click: Options... button (bottom-left)
  6. Toggle Off: [top two items]
  7. Click: Done button
  8. Close: System Settings
