Mac Studio M2 Ultra Thunderbolt 4 input issue

I just bought a Mac Studio M2 Ultra and I tried to plugin in the front or in the back of the computer my Samsung T7 and T5 hard drives and I can see my T5 in Disk Util but i cant use them and for the T7 i get an error. In my Macbook pro M1 pro the External SSDs work fine. I use them all the time no problem… Do i need to buy a Thunderbolt 4 USB cable or something? Or are my Mac Studio TB4 ports bad?

Mac Studio, macOS 14.4

From Intel's web site:

  • Versatile connectivity. Thunderbolt 4 ports are compatible with many connection standards, including previous versions of Thunderbolt™, USB, DisplayPort, and PCle. The ports fit standard USB-C typeconnectors.

What can you connect with Thunderbolt 4?

  • Thunderbolt™ devices. Connect devices bearing the Thunderbolt™ logo, including docks, displays, storage, and video capture devices. Thunderbolt™ 3 devices and cables are compatible with Thunderbolt 4 ports. Older Thunderbolt devices will work too, but require an adapter.

We have a M1 iMac 2021 24-inch, it has two Thunderbolt 4 ports and two USB 3 ports. I use those same drives (a T5 and a T7) with that iMac and can plug them into any of those ports and they work fine. I think you should take your new Mac back to an Apple Authorized Service Provider (it should be under warranty if it is new) to have it diagnosed.
