Mail Downloads Folder on Mac Sonoma 14.4.1

I used to have a folder called Mail Downloads in my library. I would go to this folder to delete downloaded mail. This would free up space on my Mac. I do this once or twice a week. I was in the folder earlier this week (Sunday or Monday). When I returned to it today, the Mail Downloads folder was gone. How do I restore it?

Please note, this has nothing to do with my regular Downloads folder on my panel bar.

I had the same problem running Sonoma 14.5 and this worked for me:

> Click on Finder, then Go, then Go to Folder.

> Paste this into the Search bar:

~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Mail Downloads/

In Finder, search for “Mail Downloads”. On my Mac, I get 3 resulting folders, all of them empty as I don’t think I have any attachments. So I couldn’t tell you which one is correct.

Otherwise, look at the section “Delete email attachments“ in this article: View, save, or delete email attachments in Mail on Mac - Apple Support. Not exactly what you are asking, I understand, but I thought I’d suggest it.

Thank you for your response. I understand that and do receive them in my downloads folder. This is not the issue.

The issue is there is a backup copy that goes to the Mail Downloads folder in the library. That folder is no longer there. It's like a cache and needs to be cleared frequently.

Did it get moved to Sonoma 14.4.1? If not, how do I get it back?
