Even I initialised for one minute for lock screen time starting screen saver, it still not worked. My mac is M3 Pro, Sonama 14.5. Tried to contact local Hong Kong support via mobile, it said not possible for this kind of support.

Setup like that, it is going to take 20 minutes to go into Lock Screen.

Set Start Screen Saver to 1 Minute

Set Turn display off on battery to 2 Minutes

Set Turn display off on power adapter to 5 Minutes

Then Test......

If that doesn't work...?

1) Reset the SMC by Restarting the the MacBook.

see > Reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support

2) Startup in Safe Mode followed by a normal Restart.

see > Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

Then Re-Test......

Those times for "screen saver" and "display off on battery" are set way too long when running on battery power.

Set the screensaver to never and use a hot corner to activate the screen saver as suggested by Grant.

Set display off on battery when inactive to around 5 or 10 minutes to conserve the battery charge.

Set require password to a longer time, but only if no one else has access to the MacBook.
