HomePod Mini's sending IPv6 router advertisements on the network

There was another post about this in 2021, with no real answer, this is still occurring, here's an extract from a pcap:

Why is this device broadcasting to the network is the router interface? How can I disable this?

If you disable this feature, then you will basically also disable most of your HomePod's functionality.


Yes, I would recommend using a separate VLAN for all of your IoT devices. Your HomePod, as the Thread Boarder router would then pass any Internet traffic to that VLAN. FWIW, that's how I have it set up on my Ubiquiti UniFi network system. I actually have separate VLANs for media devices and game consoles.
